There many ways to donate your time and talents as a CIC volunteer. Won't you please help in some way?

Volunteer Positions at Children in Crisis

Reception Desk   (weekly)
Help us answer phones and direct calls, greet guests and assist with appointments, keep front foyer clean and clutter free, stock up pamphlets and brochures, check and restock the bathrooms and kitchen and assist with administrative duties as assigned.

Become an extended family for a teen (unlimited)
Volunteer your time to help a teenager who has aged out of the foster care system. Your family could become a teen’s extended family. Invite them to dinners, holidays, make their birthday special, call them and go the extra mile to show a teen they are still loved. Make a lifelong bond with a foster teen. This is something that will be with you and your foster teen forever.

Become a teen’s lifeline (unlimited)
Be there for a teenager who has aged out of the foster system.  Help develop specific life skills for the teen.  Mentor the teens in that “life skill” area, and help them become mature, responsible adults. Become someone the teenager would like to share their life with. Make a lifelong bond with a foster teen. This is something that will be with you and your foster teen forever.

Information Management (on call)
We need a volunteer that is willing and able to help with data entry for our databases. Coordinate with the Office Manager, and help get the information to the website maintenance person. Manage and update any information for the database.

Mail out Committee (on call)
Assist the Office Manager with editing, preparing and mailing the CIC newsletter. Assist for all other mailings as needed and available, including stuffing envelopes with material, printing mailing labels, sticking labels, sealing and stamping the envelopes and delivering them to the post office.

Building Maintenance (on call)
Maintain the interior and exterior of the building as needed.

Clean Up Crew (Saturdays) 8am-noon
A cleanup crew is needed for most Saturday mornings to help with maintaining The Children’s Neighborhood. This includes laying sod, spreading pine straw, edging and pulling weeds. There may be other various projects throughout the year.

Vehicle Maintenance (on call)
A volunteer is needed to help keep the vehicles maintained. We are looking for someone that will be willing to drive the vehicles to get the oil changed, or do it himself. Also coordinate other mechanical issues with the repair facility. This volunteer will be in charge of keeping a record of the maintenance and scheduling preventative maintenance.

Historian (weekly/biweekly)
It is important for an organization like Children in Crisis to keep a record of our progress, by saving articles from the media, photos from fundraising events and projects that are being completed. We’d like to find a volunteer that could take on this project.  A scrapbook is already in place; a few hours a month would be all that is needed.

FCC (on call)
We need volunteers who are willing to help with mail outs, newsletters, pamphlets, CD's and Power Points.

Fundraising (various time of the year)
We need volunteers who are willing to go the “extra mile.” We have various events throughout the year and ongoing events that we need help with.

Helping Hands (once a week with a firm commitment for that particular day/time) 5-8pm
One to two adults in each house each evening are needed to directly interact with children and to literally be an extra pair of hands to help after supper through bedtime.

Tutors (will work Monday, Tuesday or Thursday afternoons in the Recreation Building) 3-5pm Volunteers here will preferably have a background in education or have prior tutoring experience. There will be approximately six Learning Stations (music, art, reading, math, science, etc.) where students can rotate through each table to receive help in varying subjects. Additionally, the Education Specialist may assign certain tutors to certain children.

Party Providers (monthly for birthday party; as needed for holidays)
This is a great opportunity for a church group to get involved. Each month, a different group holds a birthday party that highlights any child who has a birthday that month. These parties are NOT held in The Children’s Neighborhood. If no child is having a birthday that month, then it’s an Unbirthday Party! Groups can also hold special holiday celebrations for our children to attend and/or ask our children to attend a party already being held with a church/civic group.

Pound the Pantry People (ongoing)
Our large pantry is housed in the Recreation Building and is our first line of defense to feed our hungry masses! We would need a few volunteers who would be in charge of helping us keep the pantry stocked through donations and to ensure that the non-perishables are rotated properly. While there is also two large freezers for perishable, frozen items, the goal of this group would be to primarily keep canned goods and other non-perishables in stock!

Donations
Children in Crisis is always in need of non-perishable foods for our food pantry.

We are also in need of clothing for the children, and if you or your group is interested, we will let you know what our immediate needs are. We also need toiletries including Children’s No Tears Shampoo, Fun Soap, white washcloths, white towels, children’s Bibles, toothbrushes, toothpaste, Oatmeal Aveeno Lotion (although the Equate version is fine), hairbrushes, combs and bath toys. Also, we need  wide rule paper, fun pencils and  three-prong, two-pocket folders for school. Please NO CANDY or GUM.

It is our policy to provide equal opportunities for all individuals without regard to race, gender, color, national origin, disability or veteran status.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND WILLINGNESS TO GIVE BACK TO YOUR COMMUNITY.

WE, AND OUR CHILDREN, THANK YOU!

YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD!
